Until March 13 at Disseny Hub Barcelona we can see BANKSY. The Art of Protest, a major unauthorized international exhibition dedicated to the controversial artist with more than 70 original works and two exclusive large-scale pieces.

With a multimedia installation The envelope welcomes visitors and invites us to enter the artistic universe of one of the world’s most famous artists. most influential contemporary creators of the moment begins the tour of the exhibition Banksy The Art of Protest.

First we talk a little about the identity of the mysterious artist and his most famous pieces and then we start with a tour through the main themes treated by Banksy Globalization, consumerism, wars, the power of politics and religion, the class struggle, the migration crisis and the climate crisis. All this is accompanied by a detailed description of a free audio guide that we can download to our cell phone just before accessing the exhibition.

The pieces in sample are all originals provided by private individuals for the exhibition organized by Sold Out and it is the first time they are exhibited in Barcelona. In fact, the vast majority of the works are presented to the general public for the first time during this exhibition. .

In the exhibition we find works executed with different artistic techniques: oil, acrylic or spray on canvas and wood, limited edition silkscreen prints, stencils on concrete, sculptures, installations, videos and photographs.
Among them we have some of his iconic designs such as the Girl with Balloon or the Soldier Throwing Flowers. But also many less popular works and projects that we have the opportunity to know in detail. As for example, his Dismaland project, the Walled Off Hotel overlooking the wall of Palestine or the police helmet disco ball.

Two of them are large-scale original parts which are presented in an extraordinary way in this exhibition. In addition, we find them in the lobby right outside the entrance, so everyone who wants to get close can see them without having to buy a ticket. We are talking about two iconic pieces that were located on top of building walls in London and Los Angeles: “Pissing Guard” and “Out of Bed Rat”. .

The visit ends with an exciting virtual reality experience in which we follow the artist through the cities of the world where he has left his most iconic works.
